I wonder how many games they lost in the play-offs. :)
ReplyDeleteFo', fo', fo'.. lol
Delete1981-82 was actually 4 versions, there was the basic, East and Midwest as you mentioned but also west. Annoying set, yet also the first vintage cards I ever got so also very important to me.
ReplyDeleteNice concept on the 82-83 set. It's embarrassing that no mainstream cards were issued that year. I wrote Topps several times suggesting they do that as a Heritage/Archives set, but of course was ignored.
I have a handful of team issued cards from 82-83 waiting to ship at COMC.
I must have scrolled right past the 'W' - didn't make sense to me but for some reason I forgot to double-check. I'm not sure why I thought 66x3 but its fixed now. Thanks!
DeleteI had no idea there were so many versions of one set. History lesson today
ReplyDeleteI think the 1982 Topps baseball card design would have worked perfectly for basketball.
ReplyDeleteIt's really mind-boggling that Topps--when Bird and Magic were young stars--got to the point where they couldn't interest Topps, Donruss, or Fleer in making cards of their players. How times changed!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea there were no basketball cards for that long in the '80s. What did young basketball fans do?
ReplyDeleteI think it's great you do stuff like this and your all-time teams because it makes for interesting content. I don't think I could get myself to put in this kind of effort, but at least people like you do!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was a missing year! I wonder what the NBA mindset was like back then regarding trading cards. Thanks for the post!
