Finished and Unfinished

Quick post today... the sequel to "Not Quite Finished"

John from Johnny's Trading Spot offered to send me the last two 2022 Topps cards I needed to complete the set.

He also sent me a prize for commenting on his posts:

A couple of A.A.Rons, some '98 Finest Red Sox, and some vintage Yaz, plus my first Eric Hosmer Red Sox single. I don't expect to add another one since the Sox cut him and he caught on with the Cubs.

Joan Adon and Juan Yepez are waiting for me once I win another prize. Thank you John!

Gregory from Nine Pockets has been busy putting together two cards I need to complete another set.

It's the last two players I needed for my All-Time Teams project! I can finally show off the entire collection, complete with updated rosters. Look for that series starting in April.

Here are the backs. They may be hard to read because I write way too much, lol.

Gregory also included a vinyl sticker I'd claimed a couple months ago.

A vintage Nintendo-inspired 8-bit Packer sticker! Thank you Gregory :)

My manager is running the office Super Bowl squares pool. I did not participate, which was a wise decision because she fired me yesterday.

I knew it was coming. Got called into the office 15 minutes before close, and after training my replacement for a week. On my way into her office I sang "I'm gonna get fired!" all cheerfully.

One of my co-worker friends said "Ha! You wish!" Imagine her shock when I returned from the manager's chambers.

Didn't get to say goodbye to my favorite manager, who had left 20 minutes prior. It should be noted that G was not My manager. If she were... I might still be there.

Anywho, I'm going to my daughter's soccer game and then perhaps to the local movie theater to see Knock at the Cabin. Haven't been out to see a movie in four years.

Expect more comments and more posts for me while I enjoy a much needed break from office BS. Then it's off to Indeed in a week or two...

Thanks for reading, and enjoy the Superb Owl!

  1. You're welcome, (comment comment so you can win) I am looking at that pair of cards right now, lol. Best wishes in the break, and what comes after. I'll probably be hitting the bricks come April myself.

  2. Glad the cards and sticker made it there so quickly! Seems like the firing could be a blessing in disguise. Taking a break to refresh yourself before hitting the job search boards is a good idea. Enjoy it!

  3. Tough economy out there, that makes at least two bloggers this week. Hopefully you land something good soon!

Vintage Yaz is a pretty awesome contest win.

  6. Sorry about losing your job...I think? My wife had the same thing a few years ago, training her replacement. She moved on successfully and so can you! Enjoy the break!

  7. Seems like you just caught on there. Obviously your position wasn't eliminated, so did they tell you why they were letting you go? I see that a lot of people are still hiring, so one would think that you shouldn't have too much trouble finding somewhere else. At least you'll get a few weeks to recharge your batteries :)

    1. I actually quit my previous job a year ago today. Didn't want to leave that one, but there was enough drama in that office to fill a book (which explains my 3-month blogging absence)

This one wasn't a good fit for me. My manager was bad at managing and I dont think she realized how much work we had. I thought she realized it when she hired a new person, but... all she could tell me is that I wasn't keeping up/not a good fit/etc. That's garbage, this new girl I trained wont get more work done than I would have. She'll just make less money.
