12 Days of Christmas Day 9 - Starting Lineup

One of my favorite gifts to unwrap on Christmas morning was a Starting Lineup figure. It didn't take long for me to spot them under the tree, unless my mom got creative and put them in a box before wrapping them.

Some of the players I had in my toy box included Tony Gwynn, Roger Clemens, Alan Trammell, Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Joe Morris, Bernie Kosar, Mike Singletary, Danny Manning, and many more. Those are all long gone, but I still have about 80 unopened SLU figures in my collection. Here's the complete list:

  1. Damn, dude, that's a nice Starting Lineup collection! I'll have to post mine at some point. Did your mom ever call them "dolls" when you were a kid? I got so mad when mine did!

    1. I don’t think she ever called them ‘dolls’, that would be aggravating!

Definitely post a list of your SLUs when you can.

  2. New in box! New in box!

Quite the collection there. I never got into Starting Lineup figures, but I do remember having two when I was a kid: Don Mattingly and Mike Pagliarulo from the Yankees. The faces on both of them looked almost exactly the same. Heh.

  3. Since they couldn't really be played with, I was never that into SLU's. I'm tempted to buy some just for the cards every time I got to McKay's though, especially the one's that are less than $1.95.

  4. Heck yeah, I collected them! I'd love to add more, but they take up too much darn space.

  5. As a kid, I only had Vince Coleman. Today, I've got a Griffey and a Gwynn, which I think were included in a Wes bombing a few years back. (Not the same thing, but on the topic of sports figures, I also just got my first vintage Transogram figure which I need to post about soon.)
